Kanati Kennels Breeding Program

The breeding program developed at Kanati Kennels is taken very seriously. Pedigrees and genetics are researched thoroughly to make certain our breeding stock will successfully cross with selected candidates.

We chose the kennel name, Kanati. Kanati means strong hunter in the Cherokee Language. Both Glenda’s great grandmothers were Native American. By choosing that name, it pays tribute to their Indian heritage and strong breeding program.

Glenda takes great pride in seeing one of her Kanati Retrievers do well in the field or on the test grounds. A Kanati Retriever should exhibit great conformation, excellent trainability, a sweet temperament, and have burning desire to retrieve.

Puppies produced at Kanati Kennels are from exceptional American and Canadian field champion and hunt test lines. They are bred for genetic soundness, natural ability, intelligence, and good looks. We make every effort to give you the best possible Labrador Retriever puppy that money can buy. For a field trial or hunt test dog, a hunting companion, or that special best friend, a puppy from Kanati Kennels will be the perfect choice.

We strive to use breeding stock that is free from hereditary defects. That is why we offer a full written guaranty to every puppy buyer. Our puppies are guaranteed for two years to be free of canine hip and elbow dysplasia and progressive retinal disease.

Puppies are well socialized in our home. They have been examined by our veterinarian, had their dew claws removed, have been wormed according to weight, and vaccinated with quality vaccines. They also have been introduced to birds, gunshots, and water (weather permitting) before going to their new homes.
